UNIAG
Applied Management Research Unit
The Applied Management Research Unit (UNIAG) was created in 2013 with researchers from four polytechnic institutes (HEIs) and has been funded and accredited by the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) since June 2016. UNIAG is a multidisciplinary R&D Unit that combines a range of scientific areas, from management and social sciences with tourism. Comprises 86 researchers (48 as integrated members) from 4 Higher Education Institutions that are located in the North Region of Portugal, namely the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança (IPB), of Cávado and Ave (IPCA), Oporto (IPP) and Viana do Castelo (IPVC).
Mission
Is to promote and develop applied scientific research, particularly in the areas of management, tourism, regional and cross-border development, social and business sustainability, innovation and entrepreneurship, corporate governance, and information and communication technologies, in transversal and multidisciplinary context, aiming to establish a strong link between theory and practice, as well as to transfer knowledge to society.
Strategy
UNIAG's strategy is based on the following 2 pillars:
1. Excellence in research: improving research in UNIAG's scientific areas, boosting international publication, increasing articles in impact journals and international collaborations;
2. Involvement with society: using our research capacity to meet the needs of companies, developing solutions to their problems. Sharing academic knowledge with the general population beyond academia.
