Applied Management Research Unit

The Applied Management Research Unit (UNIAG), young R&D Unit created in 2014, comprises 41 researchers from 4 Higher Education Institutions that are located in the North Region of Portugal, namely the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança (IPB), of Cávado and Ave (IPCA), Oporto (IPP) and Viana do Castelo (IPVC).
The mission of the UNIAG is to promote and develop applied scientific research, particularly in the areas of tourism, management, regional development, social and business sustainability, entrepreneurship, competitiveness, corporate governance, and information and communication technologies, in transversal and multidisciplinary context, aiming to establish a strong link between theory and practice, as well as to transfer knowledge to society.

Mission

Is to promote and develop applied scientific research, particularly in the areas of tourism, management, regional development, social and business sustainability, entrepreneurship, corporate governance, and information and communication technologies, in transversal and multidisciplinary context, aiming to establish a strong link between theory and practice, as well as to transfer knowledge to society.

Strategy

UNIAG's strategy is based on the following 2 pillars:

  1. Excellence in research: develop and improve solid research in management and social sciences areas with tourism, that further improve international scientific publication, increasing the number of publications in impact journals and publications with international co-authorships;
  2. Engaging with society: use our research capacity to meet the needs of companies, developing solutions to their problems. Share academic knowledge with the general population beyond academia.
